Ah..that..gosh darn “Racism Formula”: Prejudice + Power. Probably one of the most counter-productive theories I ever heard of in my life. So, a race of people without institutionalized power can’t be racist? That means Neo Nazis and KKK Members are not racist..because they have no power. LOL. ANYBODY can be a racist. It probably should read: privilege = prejudice + power ..kinda makes more sense like that. There are many definitions of the word, its been around forever. To me, racism is the hatred for a race based on generalized and stereotypical opinions. I don’t know why you got certain people that want to make new definitions and terms to classify the racial hate towards them like they are special. Racism doesn’t stop being that when a certain group starts being subjected to the hate. Racism is Racism. Nothing more or less.
stupidest shit I’ve read in my life.
i can’t really be surprised this is some shit thesoftghetto would say. how the hell do neo nazis and klansmen NOT have power?
I mean, it’s not like the police have basically ignored prosecuting the KKK for generations, or you know, BEEN MEMBERS OF the KKK.
Right now we’ve got the NSA up in everyone’s emails and phone lines and you mean to tell me they somehow don’t know, and can’t catch well known white supremacist terrorist groups which were responsible for the murder of thousands of people? You’d almost have to think they’re deliberately NOT pursuing these groups… almost AS IF they were protecting them.
But you know, that’s not “having power” or anything…
….Not like the KKK didn’t conspire to bomb a church in birmingham alabama that killed 4 little girls
not like they didn’t bomb houses
not like they didn’t,just you know, hang people, burst in black people’s houses to rape, kill, rob, and steal
not like hangings weren’t treated like one big celebration for the family
not like the Tuskegee project was a thing
not like the klan wasn’t/isnt involved in the government agencies that were determined and succeeded in tearing down black leaders, institutions, and programs
not like klan members still burn crosses currently in people’s yards or try to attract kids at metal concerts
not like they just, you know, don’t wear robes and stuff anymore and just infiltrate human resources, medical institutions, and you know, the government to insure that everyone they have beef with will never get ahead.
Black people disliking not trusting white people is no where near racism, which has completely oppressed black people through generations.
unfollow soft ghetto if you haven’t already
Of course Colorism is a global issue, and yep, all dark girls need support. But this particular blog is narrowed down for the empowerment of black women and talks about issues in the black community.
… i mean no offense but no honey no. What you just said in response offends me, I am not offended by the fact that your blog is focusing on dark African/ African american Women of color but I am beyond offended by your wording, you called the latter Black Women…Black Women? are these dark skinned south Asian women not Black Women? cause if we are judging what is black and not black by skin tone Honey they are BLACK! and WOMEN! and over all I don’t know why but your response annoyed me you don’t sound very understanding or excepting…today you sounded bitter :( take a long stroll and clear your mind.
time for a read.
there are several empowerment blogs for asian/south asian women, why don’t you take this issue to them, instead of assuming that it is the job of black women to empower you?
empowerment and representation are both important, but you cannot ride the backs of black women forever. we deserve things that are JUST FOR US, and it is not offensive for us to have those things. blackness is not a space for everyone and their mother, it is a space for those of us who are BLACK. it is not your place as someone who does not fall under that umbrella to define blackness
you’re not black, but you want in on our spaces anyway?
why can’t we have something, anything that is just ours without people stepping in to say “now wait a minute, why aren’t you talking about [insert other PoC here]?”
have you sent this ask to ANY of the asian empowerment blogs? why not? ask yourself why you feel entitled to blackness and black empowerment spaces. ask yourself why it makes you so angry that we feel we deserve something that is all our own. ask yourself why it offends you, as someone who is not black, that BLACK empowerment blogs, designed to empower BLACK PEOPLE are not catering to EVERYONE.
black people are not a tool for you to use to big up yourself, and your disgusting anti-black and entitled behavior is something you need to check at the door.
colorism affects every community differently, and just like i can’t talk about colorism in asian or south asian communities, you can’t talk about colorism in black communities. dark skin and black are not equivalents. being read as black, and being read as a person with dark skin are two completely different things, and i find it incredibly disrespectful and quite honestly racist that you assume they are
blackness is not a pie for everyone to take a piece.
go sit down by yourself, and try to root out why you feel so entitled to black spaces before you step into one again.
